WHY 52weekends?
52weekends is born of a need to identify and promote the very best of
Victoria’s unique country accommodation, clearly enhancing the
sector’s profile and distinguishing these properties from those
of differing styles and/or standards.
52weekends is different in other ways : no high-pressure sales tactics, no booking fees, no exhorbitant fees, no sneaky sign-ups, and no claims to huge sales when most are given away or sold at a fraction of the RRP. It is a review-based system, based on honesty and integrity.
The need for something different and more down-to-earth has been identified
by dozens of luxury accommodation hosts in regional Victoria who have
raised the matter with Peter Robinson over many years.
.
THE PERSON BEHIND 52weekends
Peter Robinson has been a professional travel writer and photographer
for 24 years, and has reviewed about 800 accommodation properties in
Australia – mostly Victoria.
.
Peter's work has appeared in Weekends for Two, Beautiful B&Bs and Small
Hotels (as chief reviewer/photographer), Good Weekends Away (The Age),
Herald Sun, Sunday Sun, The Age, Australian Traveller magazine, and
various Australian travel magazines no longer published since the advent
of the internet.
Peter
has maintained the veracity of his accommodation reviews by providing
accurate, informative and honest text for publication. He believes this
integrity best serves the interests of the accommodation industry and
travelling public.
He
rejects the flawed ethic of “pay up and you’re in.” Instead, 52weekends insists that each and every property is individually reviewed and assessed
for that unique blend which cultivates guest approval and
satisfaction. We have discovered this can’t be achieved by ticking
boxes and awarding points, as found in major rating systems developed
over two generations ago. .

February 2009 update:
Due to the catastrophic bushfires of 7th February Marysville has been devastated and over 200 people lost their lives. Marylands Country House no longer exists, along with most of this pretty town.
